Washington Football Team Mock Draft: Upper-round trades only
Washington Football Team Round 1 pick
Trade
The Washington Football Team trades down several positions in Round 1 and obtains second and sixth-round selections.
Zaven Collins, Linebacker, Tulsa – 6-foot-4, 260 pounds
After moving down in round one, the Washington Football Team finds a blue-chip player to their liking and makes the selection.
Zaven Collins is a multi-talented linebacker who figures to start from day one and be an impactful player. He was the recipient of the Bronko Nagurski award for the best defensive player in the nation. Not bad for a player who decided to stay at home and play for his hometown team.
Collins can do it all. He has an explosive sideline to sideline range. He can be in the offensive backfield in an instant and disrupt running plays or register a quick sack. Collins can quickly drop back in coverage and he can shut down passing lanes where tight ends, slot receivers, and running backs make a living. He constantly creates turnovers through the air and on the ground.
Collins will be a good fit at the Will position, but he could see some time at Mike and Sam as well. If he can develop into the role, a move to Mike is possible at some point.
