Washington Football Team picks Round 1

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Linebacker, Notre Dame – 6-foot-2, 215 pounds

Offensive tackle Christian Darrisaw was the first choice for the Washington Football Team, but he was taken several picks earlier.  Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is one of the best linebackers in the draft and he fills a major need.

The overall impact that JOK will have at the next level is somewhat debatable, but the question marks are honestly overblown.  Yes, he can play at safety in certain alignments.  Also, he can play on the outside as a Sam or a Will.  Anchoring the middle is not too realistic unless it is a specifically designed play once or twice a game.

The biggest question mark is his size.  Does JOK need to add about 10 to 15 pounds to his frame?  The versatility speaks for itself, but it is likely that he will need to bulk up somewhat.  None of these so-called “negatives” are really an issue.  JOK is going to be a spectacular linebacker with a diversity of skills.

Other Possible First Round Targets:

Christian Darrisaw, Offensive Tackle, Virginia Tech

Mac Jones, Quarterback, Alabama

Micah Parsons, Linebacker, Penn St.

Zaven Collins, Linebacker, Tulsa

Trey Lance, Quarterback, North Dakota St.

Patrick Surtain, Cornerback, Alabama

Teven Jenkins, Offensive Tackle, Oklahoma St.

Rashod Bateman, Wide Receiver, Minnesota
