2012 NFL Draft: Alfred Morris, RB, Florida Atlantic (6th Round)

The moment you’ve been waiting for has finally come. If you have made it this far hopefully you won’t be disappointed. The 2012 season for Washington was as magical as could be, until it wasn’t at the end. QB Robert Griffin III finished the season as NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Not far behind him was an unknown rookie running back from Florida Atlantic.

As the 173rd overall pick in 2012, Alfred Morris came out of literally nowhere to help Washington win its division with a 10-6 record and secure a playoff berth. A rookie season that saw Morris compile 1,613 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.

Not known for being overly fast or overly dominant in any facet of his unique game, all Morris did was produce on the field. As good as he was on the field, he might have been a better human being off of it.

This late-round pick was with the Washington Football Team from 2012-2015. While not long enough in this writer’s opinion, his resume includes being fifth all-time in Washington Football Team history in overall rushing yards, and being the single-season rushing leader in franchise history with that memorable 2012 campaign.

Oh yeah, let’s not forget he was also selected to two Pro Bowls as well among other honors.
