2020 NFL Draft: Kamren Curl, S, Arkansas (7th Round)

Kamren Curl was taken No. 216 overall by the Washington Football Team in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Arkansas. Not much was expected from this late-round pick in year one or in general, especially due to limited offseason preparation and lack of preseason games due to the ongoing global pandemic.

Realistically, Curl had to do more than most late-round picks as a rookie in order to just make the final roster, let alone trying to focus on contributing. Nobody told the former Razorback he wasn’t supposed to have a successful rookie season though. A season in which Curl made the Pro Football Focus NFL All-Rookie Team and finished as its highest-graded rookie safety.

The young defender has shown immense potential on the field in such a short amount of time. Curl demonstrated a willingness to hit and get dirty, a nose for the ball to create turnovers, and an undeniable toughness admired by all.

On every single Washington Football Team roster since 2010, a player like Kamren Curl would have easily fit in and become a contributing player. Since finishing season one during a global pandemic with 88 tackles, three interceptions, 2.0 sacks, and one touchdown scored, this late-round pick has now set the bar for this list.
