Washington Football Team picks Rounds 1-3

Round 1

Christian Darrisaw, Virginia Tech – 6-foot-5, 315 pounds

Let’s be honest.  Darrisaw may not be there with the 19th overall pick and if the Washington Football Team is 100% sold on his abilities, then we could see small trade up.  If he is there at 19, the front office and all of their wives and children should be running to the podium to register the selection.  This talented Hokie is arguably the best left tackle in this draft not named Sewell.

Round 2

More from Commanders Draft News

Liam Eichenberg, Notre Dame – 6-foot-6, 305 pounds

It’s no secret that Notre Dame has an uncanny ability to produce NFL-ready tackles at their sophisticated factory in South Bend.  Liam Eichenberg is the latest tackle to go through the Fighting Irish’s assembly line and take his place as a left tackle on day one.

He could (and should) add about 20 pounds of bulk and muscle to his frame.  That will help him to be an even better pass protector and road grader in the rushing offense.

Round 3

Walker Little, Stanford – 6-foot-7, 320 pounds

Most analysts and scouts have Walker Little listed as a fifth or sixth-rounder, but that would be a huge (pun slightly intended) mistake.  Little hasn’t played since September 2019.  An injury early in 2019 sidelined him for the rest of the season.  He opted out in 2020 and that was probably a mistake.  He could’ve used the time to re-establish his credentials as a solid left tackle.

Little is fundamentally sound and is an asset in pass protection and the rushing attack.  He was subjected to a few bull rushes early in his career, but improved greatly by his final season.  Before the injury, Little was considered to be a first or second-round prospect.  The Washington Football Team could score a steal at this juncture of the draft.

Stone Forsythe, Florida – 6-foot-8, 315 pounds

Protecting Heisman Trophy candidate Kyle Trask’s blind side was a tall order for Stone Forsythe, but he was up to the challenge in 2020.  While other tackle prospects have generated plenty of attention, this Florida Gator quietly went about his final two seasons as one of the better left tackles in college football.

Washington would be getting a solid left tackle and he could start within a year.  At the very least, Forsyth could be a great swing tackle.
