A round-by-round look at the offensive tackles the Washington Football Team could draft.

The final part of the Washington Football Team position only series today turns its attention to offensive tackles and a description of each prospect.

Today, we return to another position only mock draft, and our focus is on offensive tackles.  The Washington Football Team is very likely to take a tackle in the first or second round and they could add a development prospect in the later rounds.  Also, depth at the position is needed as well.

Fortunately for Washington, the 2021 NFL Draft is loaded with many talented offensive tackles and the front office should be able to address this particular team need.

The current offensive starters at tackle, Cornelius Lucas and Morgan Moses, performed well in 2020.  However, both players are aging somewhat and Lucas is seen as a very good swing tackle.  Providing depth is David Sharpe, David Steinmetz, Rick Leonard, Saahdiq Charles, and Geron Christian.

Steinmetz and Leonard’s future with the Washington Football Team is very tenuous, but they are likely around to have extra bodies during training camp and the preseason.  Sharpe is likely to stay as a quality depth option.  Charles could move to the interior of the line and Christian is an unknown at this time.

With several uncertainties facing this unit, it is a safe bet to think that the Burgundy and Gold will add at least one starter-level tackle and possibly another one for depth needs.  Adding any other tackles through free agency at this point is unlikely, but it can’t be ruled out altogether.  The good news is that Washington has a multiplicity of options to address the needs at tackle.

This is our final position-only mock draft for 2021, but the series will return in 2022.  The positons to be featured will certainly be far different than what we have seen for this off-season.  Let’s take a look at the tackles in this mock draft and see how they can fit in with Washington.
