Round 4, Pick 124: DE Cam Sample, Tulane

Cam Sample is a powerful, versatile defensive lineman that slots in nicely as a rotational pass rusher for the Washington Football Team, a need that has become apparent with the losses of Ryan Anderson and the expected loss of Ryan Kerrigan.

As a pass rusher, Sample has a strong bull rush at his disposal. He uses his strength to create leverage and get to the passer. He has great grip strength allowing him to move his target with ease.

He has a solid processor as well, suiting him well in the run game. He showed the ability to read the running back and fill the proper lane. He has a high floor due to his ability as a run defender.

Sample projects best as a 4-3 defensive end at the next level. However, he also shows the power and quickness to be really effective as a situational interior pass rusher. He put his versatility to play every position on the defensive line at the Senior Bowl.

Cam Sample’s strength, high football IQ, and positional versatility should put him high on Washington’s board as the Ryan Kerrigan replacement. He would fit in nicely as a rotational edge rusher with some upside.
