Round 7, Pick 2 – Louisiana Tech DT Milton Williams

In case you’re compiling a database of elite athletes to select on Day 3, let me give you another name — although he might not be on Day 3 for long if buzz continues to build around him. His name is Milton Williams, and he plays on the defensive line for Louisiana Tech University.

Williams logged 19.0 tackles for loss and 10.0 sacks over the past two seasons for the LTU Bulldogs, and that impressive production doesn’t come on its own. Williams is also a supreme athletic talent, as he showed at his recent pro day. His numbers are so insane, they need their own paragraph.

Williams logged a 4.62 40-yard dash, a 38.5-inch vertical, a 121-inch broad jump, and a 6.87 three-cone time, all at 6-foot-3, 284 pounds. That gives Williams a Relative Athletic Score of 9.98. His height was the only thing stopping him from potentially testing as the most athletic interior lineman ever.

It makes sense for the Washington Football Team to address this position late. Extensions are looming for Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen, and while they could potentially re-sign both, there is uncertainty. And if they both receive extensions, it could spell doom for Matt Ioannidis.

Either way, the interior line is important enough that teams should always have a steady flow of talent there. And Milton Williams gives Washington plenty of upside to work with as an explosive three-technique.
