Washington Football Team restricted free agent targets in 2021
RFAs on defense
It is unknown if Washington will be active in the free agent market on this side of the ball. Obvious needs center on linebacker and free safety.
Darious Williams, Cornerback, Rams
Will the Rams allow Williams to walk? The very talented corner is set to hit free agency if the Rams do not tender him. Either way, it would probably be too costly for Washington – either with a huge contract or a second-round tender.
Ifeadi Odenigbo, Defensive End, Vikings
If the Washington Football Team is looking for depth at defensive end and for a Ryan Kerrigan replacement, look no further than Ifeadi Odenigbo. He would fit perfectly as a reserve and is likely to give you four to six sacks a season. At this time, Minnesota hasn’t tendered the former seventh-rounder.
Alexander Johnson, Inside Linebacker, Broncos
Over the last two years, Alexander Johnson has become a reliable linebacker for the Broncos, but he had some serious legal issues before a career in the NFL. All of it seems to be in the past, and Johnson could become available in the coming days. He would be a solid addition to Washington’s linebacker unit.
Poona Ford, Defensive Tackle, Seahawks
Poona Ford is one of the better run stoppers in the game, but he is not the best pass rusher. He would be a good depth signing, but is probably a better fit elsewhere.
Levi Wallace, Cornerback, Bills
It is a surprise to see that Levi Wallace hasn’t been tendered at this juncture. He has defied the odds for so long. A walk-on at Alabama. UDFA for the Bills. He simply works hard and does his job. Wallace would be a good signing for the Washington Football Team and he would fit in with the cornerback corps.
Johnson and Wallace should be on the Washington Football Team’s radar. Both are good, solid players and wouldn’t be too costly against the cap.
The restricted free agent market could offer some good opportunities for Washington in the next few days. Adding two or three of these athletes could pay handsome dividends in the future. Will the Washington Football Team take advantage of these unique circumstances this week?
