RFAs on offense

The Washington Football Team will certainly make some changes to the offense during this offseason.  Free agency and the draft will give them ample opportunity to make the necessary adjustments.  Here are some restricted free agents for Washington to consider.

Phillip Lindsay, Running Back, Broncos

Phillip Lindsay is a superb running back and he was quite a find for the Broncos in 2018.  At this time, Denver hasn’t placed a tender on Lindsay, but they could place an ERFA tender on him.  If he is allowed to walk, Lindsay is likely to look for a team where he can be the starter.

Robert Tonyan, Tight End, Packers

The Packers are still above the salary cap limit and Tonyan is probably the best overall restricted free agent out there.  If Green Bay doesn’t tender him, Tonyan will have plenty of suitors for his services.  It may cost too much for Washington and it would likely cost a second-rounder if Tonyan is tendered.

Boston Scott, Running Back, Eagles

Boston Scott is short in stature, but he is built like a brick.  He’s a good third down back and is also a superb receiver out of the backfield.

Anthony Firkser, Tight End, Titans

Anthony Firkser had something of a breakout year in 2020 and his career could continue to be on an upswing.  He would be a very affordable option.

Any of these four players would be a good fit in Washington, but Tonyan and Lindsay would probably be too expensive.  Lindsay is likely to seek out a team that wants him as a starter and that is not Washington. Tonyan is going to be in demand if he enters free agency without a tender.  Firkser and Logan Thomas would be a great duo at tight end.  Scott would fit in nicely with Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic – plus he brings some needed intel on the Eagles.
