Washington Football Team Free Agency Evaluation – Quarterbacks
Lower Tier
Andy Dalton, Cowboys
Andy Dalton’s best days are far behind him, but he did have some positive moments for the Cowboys in 2020. It was difficult for Dallas when Dak Prescott was lost to a gruesome injury. The Cowboys simply couldn’t maintain the early season momentum with Dalton. He is a good backup now and his days as a starter will be in similar situations like we saw in 2020.
Nick Mullens, 49ers
Can Nick Mullens become a reliable quarterback in this league? In 2018 and 2020, he flashed that potential. Can he find the consistency to make the next step to NFL starter? It will be interesting to see if Mullens is given a chance in the next year or two. He is a restricted free agent, but various reports claim that San Francisco will let him walk.
Philip Rivers, Colts
Philip Rivers is not a lower-tier quarterback, but we place him here after the long-time star decided to retire. Could the Washington Football Team coax him out of a brief retirement for one more year or two? Ron Rivera is highly respected in the league, but it’s unlikely he would be able to convince Rivers to return to the game.
Prediction: Keep walking. There is nothing to see here.
