Patrick Surtain II. 17. player. 28. . Cornerback. Las Vegas Raiders

I can’t stress how bad the Las Vegas Raiders’ first-round selection of Damon Arnette was last year. I liked Arnette as a prospect. But Arnette was a 24-year old cornerback with less-than-elite athleticism. He could carve out a role in the slot in the coming years, but the Raiders need to re-invest in cornerback if they’re going to improve.

In this simulation, Patrick Surtain II falling to No. 17 is a near-dream scenario. He’s only my CB3, but the top cornerbacks in this class are bunched together tightly, and Surtain has a case to rise. He’s a long, smooth cornerback who has underrated athleticism and nice physicality. He can improve in a few areas, but more often than not, he forces QBs to look the other way.
