Washington Football Team Mock Draft: WFT lands a falling QB in simulation
Round 5, Pick 156, WR Sage Surratt, Wake Forest
I wasn’t liking many of the options on the board at pick 124 when I received an offer from the 49ers. Washington was able to secure picks 156, 173, 182, and 238 in exchange for pick 124.
Yes, Royce Newman was on the board and could have helped shore up the offensive line for Washington but the abundance of picks gave the team an opportunity to bring in more young prospects and potentially find a sleeper a la Kam Curl in last year’s draft.
With Pick 156, I picked Sage Surratt from Wake Forest. At 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, Surratt would be another big target for Fields in his rookie year.
In his redshirt freshman year, Surratt contributed about 20 percent of the Demon Deacons’ offensive production. In 2019, he finished with 65 catches for 1,006 yards and 11 touchdowns in only nine games before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury.
Surratt opted out of the 2020 season to prepare for the NFL draft.
Although he is on the slower side in terms of speed, his size makes him a weapon in 50-50 ball situations and in the red zone.
