Round 2, Pick 51: LB Zaven Collins, Tulsa

In Ian Cummings’ draft last week, he selected Collins at 19, so when I saw him available at 51, this was an absolute no-brainer choice. With quarterback taken care of, this was the chance to fill one of the team’s major needs on the defensive side of the ball.

The Washington Football Team loves the underdogs and Collins was just that entering college as a three-star recruit, before showing his explosiveness and versatility in college. He finished his college career with the Bronco Nagurski Award and the Chuck Bednarik Award, which go to the nation’s top defensive player and linebacker, respectively.

At 6-foot-4, 260 pounds, he has the size to handle tight ends in coverage, while also having the ability to get to the quarterback. As a mid-second rounder, Collins might turn into the biggest steal of the draft for Washington.
