Additional Thoughts

The offensive line is not the most pressing need for this offseason, but that could quickly change if Brandon Scherff doesn’t sign a new deal within the next few weeks.  Assuming that Scherff returns, Washington will probably turn their attention to other positions and add some offensive line talent in the draft.

Again, there were no centers considered, especially after the Washington Football Team signed Roullier to a new contract.  Keith Ismael is the backup center and is still under contract for three more years.  It’s possible that a long snapper could be signed to compete in camp, but such players are typically added as UDFAs at the conclusion of the NFL Draft.

The following offensive linemen are restricted free agents and could receive some attention from Washington.

  • Trenton Scott, Panthers
  • Jerald Hawkins, Steelers
  • Ike Boettger, Bills
  • Greg Senat, Cowboys

Any of these players would be signed for depth purposes only.

The next article in this series will focus on free agent tight ends that could interest the Washington Football Team.  Also, we have a unique mock draft coming next week.  We haven’t forgotten about the full free agency update, but that may wait another week or so.
