Five players Washington Football Team could cut to open up cap space
We’re now less than a month away from NFL free agency opening, and Washington Football Team fans are getting excited.
Armed with the sixth-most salary-cap space in the NFL, the team is positioned to make some moves. And some big ones at that.
Of course, the front office will pick and choose where to be aggressive, much like they did last offseason. But even if they land just one of the bigger-ticket free agents, it could go a long way toward helping Washington. Even the under-the-radar guys can be worthwhile as the team saw last offseason with Logan Thomas, J.D. McKissic, Cornelius Lucas, and Ronald Darby.
Roster cuts Washington Football Team could make
That said, even though the team has a lot of cap space available, Washington could still opt to make some notable roster cuts. Teams are always looking to create space and flexibility in the NFL, and Washington is no different.
Washington doesn’t have as many albatross contracts as they’ve had in recent years (which is a good thing). They only have a couple and can only realistically move on from one of them due to the structure of the deal. But there are still a handful of underachievers that the team could part with if they want to open up some extra cap space.
Here’s a look at five guys that Washington could part with as they look to open up extra cap space or make room for new talents on their roster.
