How much should the Washington Football Team give up to trade for a QB?

Teddy Bridgewater, Carolina Panthers

Teddy Bridgewater’s trade value is not very high, and I don’t want him, which makes his trade value to me even lower. At his best, he is a high-floor, low-ceiling QB who needs a lot of talent around him to succeed. Washington will upgrade its talent this offseason, but it is not likely to add enough to make Bridgewater a viable option.

What’s more, he’s on a bad contract. Not a terrible contract. But a bad one given his level of production. The fact that said contract was given to him by the Washington Football Team’s current EVP of Player Personnel Marty Hurney, when he was GM in Carolina, has led some to believe Bridgewater is an attractive option for Washington. I hope this is not the case.

Bridgewater is a steadier bet than either Kyle Allen or Taylor Heinicke, and were he to start for the Washington Football Team in 2021, it wouldn’t be a disaster. It would just be an uninspired stopgap. The current price for uninspired stopgaps is a 6th-round pick, provided we acquire a 7th-rounder in return.
