The Washington Football Team is likely taking a detailed look at each position this offseason and deciding how free agency can fill some gaps or add quality depth.  Today’s focus is linebackers.

NFL free agency promptly arrives on March 17 at 4 p.m. ET – don’t forget to set your clocks an hour forward a few days earlier!  You don’t want to miss the frenzied opening hours of free agency!

Deals will be announced within minutes and the Washington Football Team could be an active participant this time around.  Free agency arrives in a few weeks and it will be here before anyone can say “I’ll take five blue-chippers – please”!

Will Washington be active in free agency or will they take a low-key journey through all of the chaos and madness in March?  With the favorable salary cap space that the Burgundy and Gold possesses this offseason, it is probably a safe bet to see an active approach.

The front office could also free up a lot of cap space with the release of quarterback Alex Smith and a player or two that has a bloated contract.  So let’s assume Washington will be active and take these articles in that direction.

Today, we continue a winter series that puts each team position under the Riggo’s Rag microscope and examine which athletes could grace the Washington Football Team roster this fall.

Our latest position to consider is the linebackers that could be available in March.  It is most certainly a team need and Washington will be looking at a top-level defenders and some quality depth as well.  We’ll divide each set of players in these articles between the upper tier, middle tier, and lower tier.

One item to note:  The linebacker position needs center on the re-signing of Kevin Pierre-Louis, a wholesale replenishing of the unit, and the filling obvious departure of Ryan Anderson.  We will include a few depth players that Washington could consider in today’s article.  Let’s get right to it!
