Washington Football Team: Mock free agency, roster cuts, trades
Coming into the 2021 NFL Offseason with a plethora of salary cap dollars and draft picks, the Washington Football Team has the most important offseason in years in front of them.
After a successful first year under Ron Rivera, the Washington Football Team has finally looked to begin a new chapter. A winning chapter.
The 2020 season was one of rainbows and roses for this team. With their head coach Ron Rivera battling cancer and a quarterback controversy thrown into the mix, this team still finished in first place of the NFC East when all was said and done.
This has set the standard for what the Rivera era should look like. From day one, this regime has promised better results and a better culture. Thus far, it’s been just that.
But there are still many ways this team can upgrade their 7-9 ball club. There’s still a plethora of holes on this roster, that must be filled in order for this franchise to return to the winning ways of the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s.
That begins with this offseason. The 2021 offseason will setup what these next five seasons will look like. It’ll set the tone for how aggressive or conservative this organization will be, and where exactly they value certain players and positions.
With a projected $33 million in cap space and with four picks within the top 100 of the NFL Draft, the Football Team has assets to help build towards a successful future.
A long-term solution under center will make the most impact from day one, but that isn’t all they should shoot for. Whether it be an upgrade on the back end or a game-breaker at the TE position, this team must address its needs and attack all they can this offseason.
