It shouldn’t be any surprise to see multiple receivers among the top-five offensive players to watch. The Washington Football Team desperately needs help at that position, and that’s something that Kadarius Toney could provide.

The buzz around Toney has been steadily growing since the start of his senior year, and now, it seems like he’s in play as a potential top-20 pick. Multiple recent mock drafts actually have Washington taking Toney, so he is surely among their best potential first-round options.

Toney was the favorite receiver of Kyle Trask during his final season with the Gators, and he produced more in 2020 than his previous three seasons combined. Toney posted 70 catches, 984 yards, and 10 touchdowns through the air while also adding 161 yards and a score on the ground on 19 carries.

Toney has very good speed but has the physicality needed on his 5-foot-11, 189-pound frame to withstand contact and stay upright after hits. He’s explosive and elusive with the ball in his hands, and he can do everything on offense that he will be asked to do. His movement skills and ability to shake defensive backs is great, and he showed that off in Senior Bowl practice, per PFF’s Mike Renner.

Of course, Toney didn’t make the catch there, but that route was a thing of beauty.

Toney would certainly be a great option as a No. 2 receiver for Washington. He could do a little bit of everything for the team and Scott Turner would surely figure out the ways to most effectively use him. He should be in play for the No. 19 pick and if he continues to show off his athleticism and rise, he will be one of the team’s preferred options at 19.

Fans will want to catch a glimpse of Toney at the Senior Bowl working without Kyle Trask. The two paired well together at Florida, but if Toney can prove productive while working with another quarterback, that could have a big impact on his draft stock. It’s rising after his performance in practice, but solidifying it with a solid showing in the game could make him a sure-fire first-round pick.
