Washington Football Team: Lower-tier safety targets

Rayshawn Jenkins

Rayshawn Jenkins is an underrated talent and while he has played strong safety mostly at the pro level, he is historically a free safety.  He is not a full season starter, but Jenkins can fill in for a game or two.  The depth to the free safety position that he would bring to the Washington Football Team is a definite plus for him.

Erik Harris

More from Riggo's Rag

Erik Harris is another underrated free safety.  His skill set is solid and he likely has another three good years in the NFL.  He’s a good tackler and decent in coverage.

After spending some time in the Canadian Football League, Harris made the jump to New Orleans and the NFL.  His best season came in 2019 with the Raiders and he regressed a bit in 2020, but Harris is still a solid defender.  He is also a good special teams player.

Chris Banjo

Chris Banjo is a dual role player as a free safety and special teams ace.  As a free safety, he would bring good depth to the position.  He is not starter material, just depth only.

Banjo is a superb special teams player and that is where he makes his best impact.  The journeyman from SMU has eight years in the league with three different teams.  The 2020 season was actually his best on defense and special teams.

Prediction:  Could the Washington Football Team have an interest in a depth player here?  Harris would probably be the best option with the lower tier.  It’s possible that he may get a call from the front office.
