Washington Football Team: A wish list of free agent tight ends

Other sleepers in tow for Washington
Some think that a fully-healthy Thad Moss could provide a boost to Washington in 2021, but I am doubtful. I think some are swayed by his famous pedigree. Thad may turn out to be a serviceable player, but he is far from the second coming of his father Randy Moss.
I have previously written about the prospect Temarrick Hemingway, who did not show much in his very limited audition in 2020.
But I will give you one more name to keep an eye on. Late in the 2020 season, in a largely unnoticed move, the Washington Football Team added former Texas Tech wide receiver Dylan Cantrell to their practice squad. They signed him to a futures contract once the season ended. Cantrell is 6-foot-3, 226 pounds, and he has excellent speed. His years at Texas Tech featured one highlight-reel catch after another.
Cantrell has kicked around the league for a few years because it became apparent that he did not have the separation ability to beat professional cornerbacks. So this past season, he began taking snaps at tight end. Whether he will be able to flourish at the new spot is very much up in the air.
Ten years ago, Niles Paul made the transition for Washington. If Cantrell is able to pick up the position, he could be exactly what Washington needs to complement Logan Thomas.
Next up, the offensive line.
