The Washington Football Team should consider these general manager candidates.

Just over a calendar year ago, the Washington Football Team made the decision to part ways with Bruce Allen. The move was met with unanimous praise from fans who had grown weary of Allen’s poor performance in the GM role. The hope was that the team would replace him but continue to do some of the good work the team had been doing in the draft in recent seasons.

Instead, Washington opted not to hire a GM for the season. Kyle Smith was given a promotion, and Washington added a couple of former Panthers executives to the front office, but it was Ron Rivera that oversaw key roster moves and performed other duties that would normally befall a GM.

Now with a year of the Washington experience under his belt, Rivera knows the workings of the organization better. He also probably wants to focus on coaching and be more of a collaborator on roster decisions as opposed to the be-all, end-all decision-maker, so the team is getting ready to bring in a GM. They have already requested a couple of interviews, and they could be poised to request more in the coming weeks.

Washington’s choice at this spot will be a big deal. They need to have someone in that spot who can work collaboratively with Rivera (and shares a similar vision for the roster) but they also needed someone who has a keen eye for talent.

Luckily for the team, there are plenty of quality candidates on the market. Here’s a look at 10 potential GMs they could pursue, starting with an executive that is bound to get interest from Washington but may not be the best fit.
