The Washington Football Team continues to build its roster as they enter offseason mode.

After being beaten at the hands of the Tampa  Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round of the 2021 NFL Playoffs, the Washington Football Team’s season came to an end. Now, they’re starting to prepare for the 2021 offseason and are filling out back-end roster depth on their 90-man unit.

On Monday, they signed 13 players to reserve/future contracts and parted ways with Shaun Dion Hamilton. And today, they have signed three more players via those reserve/future contracts.

According to the team’s official website, the players are:

Acy was an undrafted free agent in the 2020 NFL Draft who played four years at Missouri. He has a 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame and posted three interceptions and 10 pass defenses in 2018, his best college season. His size is his best attribute, so the team may look to develop him into a depth play.

McTyer has the most NFL experience of the bunch, as he has been around since going undrafted in 2017 out of UNLV. McTyer (5-foot-11, 188 pounds) has played in 27 career games and made four starts for the Dolphins in 2018. He had 30 tackles and four pass defenses that year, his best in the league.

Since then, McTyer has spent most of his time with the Bengals, serving mostly as a depth player that shuffled between the practice squad and active roster. He’s only 25, so adding someone that young with that level of experience is worth a shot.

Finally, Wise has spent the last two seasons on the Cowboys and Cardinals practice squad after going undrafted out of Kansas in 2019. The 6-foot-3, 285-pound defensive lineman is the younger brother of Patriots DL Deatrich Wise and is a nice developmental option to add to the fold with Ryan Kerrigan and Ryan Anderson set to hit free agency.

These moves all have upside for Washington, so they’re fine ones to make. Are any of these players likely to make the 53-man roster come September? No, but each will have a shot to do that or stick around on the practice squad.

We’ll soon see if anything comes of these moves, but either way, expect a lot of roster shuffling from Washington in the coming weeks.
