The Bad: Highlighted by Washington’s defensive struggles

5: Washington has now lost their last five playoff games. The last win was 15 years ago, ironically enough against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

5,104: After holding Mike Evans to one reception for 15 yards in the first half, Washington’s defense let up and allowed Evans to get five receptions for 104 yards with the majority of damage coming in the fourth quarter.

4.9: Leonard Fournette had 19 carries for 93 yards, his second-most in a game this season. He averaged 4.9 yards per carry, which was more than one-yard greater than his season average. Washington came into the game giving up the 13th-fewest rushing yards per game but they were embarrassed by Tampa’s rushing attack.

More from Commanders News

381: Washington came into the game giving up the second-fewest passing yards per game, and only 128.7 passing yards per game over the last three games. They gave up almost three times that number to Tom Brady, who finished with 381 passing yards and two touchdowns, as he slowly chipped away the defense.

3, 0, 0: When Bruce Arians said, “Be careful what you wish for” to Chase Young after he said, “I want Tom,” nobody knew how true his statement would be. Young finished with only three tackles, zero tackles for a loss, and zero QB hits. It was definitely one of the worst games of his young career but a great learning experience.

2.25: Coming into the game, we knew Tampa Bay had the league’s best rush defense and it showed. Heinicke leads the team in rushing and Antonio Gibson and McKissic only combined for 36 rushing yards on 16 carries for a lousy 2.5 yards per carry average.
