Standouts from the Washington Football Team’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Washington Football Team saw their season come to an end in a way that all but one playoff team will see. They lost. They fought hard against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but were ultimately eliminated after falling by a score of 31-23.

That said, the game was an encouraging one. The team went blow for blow with Tom Brady, the greatest quarterback of all time, and had a chance to tie the game at multiple junctures. They could never quite get there, but doing so with their fourth different starting quarterback of the year was certainly impressive.

The future is looking bright for Washington with Ron Rivera at the helm. They’re certainly ahead of schedule in their goal to become a contender, and though they benefitted from a weaker division in 2020, they finished the regular season on a 5-2 run, made the playoffs for the first time since 2015, and will have plenty of resources to upgrade their already-solid squad this year.

Losing is always a negative, but all but one playoff team’s season will end with a loss. The fact that this young Washington team was even able to get to the postseason this year is great, and it’s hard to look at Saturday’s result with anything other than optimism.

So, instead of focusing on the negatives from Saturday’s loss, here are a few of the standouts from the game for Washington. The best news about them is that they all could be good building blocks moving forward.
