Offensive Players

QB Alex Smith

Does Alex Smith deserve a game ball?  An argument can be made either way, but he did manage this game to the point of keeping his Washington Football Team in the lead for most of the game.  Smith is 5-1 as a starter this season and that statistic may seem hard to believe, but it obviously verifies that the veteran signal-caller is simply a winner.

Smith certainly made his share of mistakes against the Eagles, but the numbers are not as bad as one may think.  He went 22-32 passing for 162 yards. He had two touchdown passes.  Also, he had one hard count late in the game to draw the Eagles offsides and help seal a victory.  For his efforts on Sunday night, Alex Smith is awarded the first game ball.

TE Logan Thomas

We must ask the question once again.  Where did he come from?  Logan Thomas was on fire during the second half of the season and produced his best season ever in the NFL.  You can’t argue with 72 receptions for 2020, especially when his best season came a year earlier when the former Hokie hauled in 16 catches.  From superb blocking to gaining extra yardage after a catch, Thomas has been a reliable target.

Against the Eagles, Thomas didn’t produce solid numbers.  However, he did have an impressive touchdown catch late in the second quarter to give Washington a lead that it never relinquished.  There are times when a player can make that one play to make a difference in the game and Thomas made such a play against the Eagles.

For his efforts on Sunday, Logan Thomas is awarded the second game ball.
