The Washington Football Team won the NFC East via their victory over the Eagles.

The Washington Football Team was, at one point, 2-7 on the season. It was expected. They were staring down a big rebuild with Ron Rivera at the helm, and it was going to take time for him to set straight a franchise that had been directionless in the final years of the Jay Gruden era.

However, in what was a weak year for the NFC East, the 2-7 record stung for some. It was a chance to make the playoffs, and Washington was going to miss out on it.

Except they didn’t. Washington made a 5-2 run to close the season, completing a sweep of the Cowboys on Thanksgiving, handing the undefeated Steelers their first loss, beating the reigning-NFC Champion 49ers, and entering Weeks 16 and 17 with a chance to make the playoffs.

They squandered an opportunity in Week 16 because of the Dwayne Haskins conundrum. And against the Eagles in Week 17, they had plenty of scares in a bizarre game. Though the win they notched was a sloppy one, all that matters is that they ended the game ahead of the Eagles 20-14.

There were plenty of bright spots, especially on the defensive side of the ball, even despite Washington’s ugly win. With that said, here’s a look at the studs and duds from the contest.
