Reality checks for Washington Football Team vs. Panthers in Week 16.

This is not a drill. This is real life. The Washington Football Team is playing a game with massive playoff implications on Dec. 27, and somehow that is the third-biggest story for the franchise this week.

And yet, that’s not the loudest story for this franchise this week. The owner of the team is making news for all the wrong reasons. The starting quarterback is hurt. The backup quarterback is making juvenile decisions in spite of making the most of his unique opportunity.

The team started the season 1-5 and still has a losing record. So it truly is incredible that this team has managed to play themselves into this position with two weeks remaining in the season. But their resiliency will be tested yet again this week, as they seek to overcome the myriad of distractions and play a complete game against the Panthers.

Will they be able to pull it off? And if so, how? It’s time for an abbreviated, holiday edition, Week 16 Washington Football Team Reality Checks.
