Final Thoughts

All alone in first place in the NFC East division.  It’s true that the Washington Football Team is 6-7.  It’s also true that they possess a four-game winning streak and just capped off an impressive three-game road trip that took them to the following:  A season sweep of a division rival, one of the biggest upsets of the season, and a solid victory over the defending NFC Champion.

NFL analysts across the board did not expect it, but Washington’s coaches and players knew they could go into the latter part of the season and taste success.  This Washington team puts up a fight like no other.  Any team playing the Washington Football Team the rest of this season and in the playoffs (if it happens) will come to learn that Washington, win or lose, will leave them bruised, battered, and pushed into the dirt.

What’s unfolding before our very eyes is a team that is quickly becoming a family.  A family that works and battles together.  A family that is unified.  A family that will fight for one another.  Yes, this Washington Football Team we see now is far different than the team we saw just a few weeks ago when the record was 2-7.  The Seattle game at home now looms large and if the Burgundy and Gold can pull off a fifth straight win, it is likely that they will be the division champions in early January.

The fans are celebrating once again this week and understandably so.  Enjoy it, but it is back to business on Sunday to face the Seahawks — a very good team that is a legitimate Super Bowl contender.  This time next week, we could be talking about a team that is sporting a five-game winning streak and a non-losing record.  Fans couldn’t say these things a month ago without being labeled as an extreme homer or an unrealistic fan.  What will the conversation look like this time next week?
