The Washington Football Team is alone in first place.

Let that sink in for a minute. The Washington Football Team is alone in first place. The team managed to earn their fourth straight victory against the 49ers on Sunday. The game wasn’t necessarily pretty, but a win is a win.

And now, Washington is in control of their own destiny in terms of the NFC playoff race.

This Washington team has shown incredible resolve this year. They started the season poorly. Their coach had cancer. They endured numerous quarterback changes. But somehow, they’re still alive. They’re one game under .500 and they have won three straight road games: One against their archrival, one against a previously undefeated team, and one against the reigning NFC Champions.

If you had asked any WFT fan if they would be happy with this stretch of play at the beginning of the 2020 season, they would’ve resoundingly said yes. Of course, there are still some issues with the team, and there are a few injuries to take note of. But after another win, fans have to be excited by the direction of this team, at the very least.

With all that said, here are three takeaways from Washington’s latest win.
