Washington Football Team has a huge opportunity vs. Steelers
The Washington Football Team will be the next team to try and defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers for the first time and it will be on a (semi) national stage.
For the second straight week, the Washington Football Team will have their game be the only live NFL game in their time slot. However, the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers will only be on the local Fox channels in some areas. So, it’s not a second straight nationally televised game, thanks Fox. With that said, many NFL fans and other teams will still have close eyes on this game.
Everyone is just anxiously waiting for the Steelers to fall for the first time. That is exactly why this is an important game for Washington. It is a barometer for how good this team really is, and how much better it has gotten. On Monday, they get to show most of the nation that improvement, or (hopefully not) lack of improvement.
In their first non-Sunday afternoon matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, they played well. In fact, the Washington Football Team dominated the Cowboys. Antonio Gibson made his fantasy owners happy with three touchdowns, Terry McLaurin showed his value, and the defensive line was dominant.

But, again, it was the Cowboys. To better emphasize, the hapless Dallas Cowboys. A team that everyone knows is very below-average. While the win was great, especially for the NFC East title race, the Washington Football Team still has more growth to show.
It is great to blow out a bad football team; you are supposed to do that. It is a positive sign to go 3-3 over the last six games, tying the entire 2019 win total in that stretch. It is also something of note to have the losses be by a combined seven points. So close to a six-game heater and being in the drivers seat of the division.
The last six games for the Washington Football Team have shown growth. They are no longer hapless. They will not give up and make excuses like so many previous teams have done. It is a much better product being put out on the field than in years past. The entire country saw that on Thanksgiving. With that said, it is time to take that next step.
Become a step closer to being a good football team. The Washington Football Team gets the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday. Even more important, the game is crucial to Washington for the NFC East title race. They could be playing for first place in the NFC East.
Meaningful December football! Poor NFC East or not, its a lot better than what we were saying last December.
The Washington Football Team showed it wasn’t completely helpless. Now, they have a prime opportunity to put the league on notice. Statement game. The circumstances set up well for the Washington Football Team as well, as the Steelers will be coming in on four days of rest, while Washington has ten days of rest.
The Steelers have come close on multiple occasions to dropping a game against underdog opponents. They squeaked by against the Broncos in Week 2, almost let the Eagles complete a comeback in Heinz Field earlier in the year, somehow let the Cowboys almost beat them, and they played down to the depleted Ravens team on Wednesday.
The Steelers are not invincible. They can be beat. The Washington Football Team has a huge opportunity to be the ones who accomplish it. A combination of continued pressure on Ben Roethlisberger, a quick passing game, and establishing the run could be just the trick.
A win is not an absolute must, but being competitive is paramount. You do not want to be blown out in a game like this for half the country to see.
As many of you know, Monday games against the Steelers have not been kind to Washington in recent history. Lets not repeat that, okay Washington? Go toe-to-toe with the last unbeaten team in the NFL. And maybe, just maybe, beat them.
Why not Washington? The circumstances sure do favor Washington. Okay, maybe my burgundy-tinted glasses are showing. But seriously, go shock the world, Washington Football Team.
