Washington Football Team signs two to practice squad.

The Washington Football Team evidently has decided that they needed some extra depth at the tackle position. This makes sense considering that Geron Christian and Cornelius Lucas have been banged up in recent weeks leaving the team thin at the position.

Morgan Moses has played well at left tackle and David Sharpe has been serviceable at right tackle. But behind them, Washington has rotated practice squad players in and out and now, they will have a couple more options to bring in and out, including a familiar face.

According to the team’s official Twitter account, Washington signed offensive tackles Timon Parris and Rick Leonard to the practice squad. Parris is the name that Washington fans will know as the former undrafted player out of Stony Brook spent three offseasons with the team and time on the practice squad during his time with the team.

Parris returns to Washington after spending the beginning of the 2020 season with the Atlanta Falcons after they claimed him off waivers and spending about a month on the Browns practice squad from mid-October to early-November. Neither of those stints worked out so now, the 6-foot-6, 315-pound tackle will be looking to make an impression on the new coaching staff in Washington to show that he can at least stick around as a depth option.

The other new practice squad signee, Leonard, is similarly large, standing at 6-foot-7, 311 pounds. He was a fourth-round pick of the Saints back in 2018, but he was widely considered a reach and didn’t even make the team. He has spent time on the practice squads of the Saints, Rams, Cardinals, and Texans during his three years in the league.

Parris and Leonard will join David Steinmetz on the practice squad and give Washington a few game-day call-up options to use until either Lucas or Christian is ready to return to play.

It will be interesting to see if either can stick around, but at least Parris has some experience with this coaching staff and their terminology since he was here for all of the summer.
