The Washington Football Team will play the Steelers on Monday instead of Sunday.

Well, for the second consecutive week, the Washington Football Team won’t be playing on Sunday. After playing on Thanksgiving afternoon against the Dallas Cowboys, Washington was set to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Dec. 6.

However, the Steelers’ game against the Baltimore Ravens, originally scheduled for Thursday night, had to be postponed three different times and will now take place on Wednesday, Dec. 2. This came as a result of a COVID-19 outbreak in the Ravens organization.

To give the Steelers more rest between their games, the NFL pushed back the Washington-Pittsburgh game by a day, according to Albert Breer of The MMQB. That will be the third Monday Night Football game of the week.

This move was a sensible one to be made. The NFL simply couldn’t continue to postpone the Steelers-Ravens game without giving the Steelers at least one extra day to recover, especially since the outbreak was no fault of theirs.

Washington won’t mind a one-day postponement either, as they can continue to rest up after their mini-bye following their Thanksgiving win. Ron Rivera and Jack Del Rio can continue to devise an attack plan to utilize against the Steelers and try to pull off a big upset.

In the weird year that has been the 2020 NFL season, there have been a handful of games moved and teams have just had to go with the flow. Washington will be ready to do just that and they shouldn’t have any trouble being ready for this game.

In fact, playing a potential stand-alone game against one of the league’s best teams will be a good test for this young team. If they play well, it will be an opportunity to build on and either way, it will be a learning experience for the team.

We’ll see what happens with this game in the coming days, but a one-day postponement surely won’t have that much of an impact on Washington, especially this far out from the game.
