Washington Football Team: Kyle Smith needs a promotion to GM
It is clear a new culture is being set in the nation’s capital, I am going to highlight an unsung hero for that new culture for the Washington Football Team.
Kyle Smith. To some of you, that name is unfamiliar. Who is Kyle Smith? Kyle Smith is currently the Vice President of Player Personnel for the Washington Football Team. He essentially is the Co-GM with Head Coach Ron Rivera.
The final say always comes down to Rivera with this new coach-centric approach, but Smith still has a heavy hand in the player personnel decisions.
Kyle Smith has been with the Washington Football Team since 2010. He began in 2010 as an intern and in 2011 was hired as a full-time area scout. His last stint as an area scout was in the Southeast Region.
In June of 2017, he was promoted to the Director of College Personnel for the Washington Football Team. That means he was in control of all of the college scouting the team did. He was the person making the team’s big boards.
On Jan. 13, 2020, Ron Rivera promoted Kyle Smith to Vice President of Player Personnel for the Washington Football Team. He now oversees both pro and college scouting and personnel.
Taking a past look at those drafts, you see a shift in the process of team-building for the Washington Football Team. A more sustainable process.
I am here to present my case as to why, the past few weeks have proved, the Washington Football Team needs to promote him to the general manager role immediately, or else another team will scoop him up.
