Takeaways from the Washington Football Team’s win against the Cowboys.

Complete domination. It wasn’t always that way, but that’s how the final score turned out. The Washington Football Team went into the Dallas Cowboys home stadium and clobbered them 41-16 on Thanksgiving Day.

Few Washington fans expected a win today. The Cowboys were favored and while some thought that Washington could keep it close or eke out a close victory, nobody expected a 25-point win for the Football Team. They got it and with it, they’re now in first place in the NFC East.

At 4-7, Washington still has some work to do to lock down a playoff spot, but they are in control of their own destiny, have the tiebreaker over the Cowboys (who they swept in a season series for the first time since 2012), and at the very least, they’re going to be playing meaningful football in December. That wasn’t something many expected them to do this season.

Ron Rivera and his coach staff deserve a lot of credit for what they were able to do in this contest. They had their team ready to play on a short week and they made the poorly-coached Cowboys pay for their many mistakes.

Here are three big takeaways from this game, starting with thoughts on the defense’s performance.
