6. The Reality Is, everything is set up for the WFT to ruin my Thanksgiving… again.

Never in NFL history, have two 3-7 teams met with so much on the line. And only once, in NFL history, have the Washington Football Team not ruined my Thanksgiving.

Although Owner Dan Snyder seems to really like Thanksgiving, based on his introductory press conference with Ron Rivera, Thanksgiving Day matchups have not treated Washington well. Washington comes into Thanksgiving this year having somehow managed to be relevant in spite of only winning three games so far.

How is it that this team is this bad this season, and has still set their fans up for the entire holiday’s success to be riding on their game in Dallas?

Dallas has had their fair share of embarrassing losses on Thanksgiving. They’ve had quite a few signature wins, too. But with Washington being one of their most consistent Thanksgiving Day opponents, Dallas has almost always prevailed over the Burgundy and Gold en route to their turkey dinner.

Only once, in their 10 meetings, has Washington managed to prevail against Dallas in a Thanksgiving Day game. RGIII put on an absolute show in 2012 during his shooting-star of a rooking season. For Washington fans under 30, that season, and that game, in particular, is one of the very few fond memories they have of Washington Football.

In many cases, Thanksgiving Day games have fallen in the “at least beat Dallas to salvage some pride out of this terrible season” category for Washington fans. A few times, like in 2016, Washington came in with playoff aspirations, only to have their hopes dashed in a heartbreaking loss.

My Prediction: Dallas gets some revenge from their embarrassing loss earlier in the season in Washington. Alex Smith struggles against the speed of Dallas’ defense. Washington starts slow again.

And after a furious comeback attempt aided by another big play from Chase Young, Washington falls short 29-24, ruining yet another Thanksgiving for me and Washington fans everywhere.
