Washington Football Team injury report for Week 11 vs. Bengals.

The Washington Football Team is going to be a bit shorthanded against the Bengals in Week 11. The team released their official injury report on Friday afternoon, and that confirmed that five players would be out for the game with an additional four set to be questionable.

Notably, starting safety and Deshazor Everett (ankle) and two offensive tackles, starter Geron Christian (knee) and top backup Cornelius Lucas (ankle), will be out for this game. Additionally, Jared Norris (hamstring) and Ryan Anderson (knee) will be sidelined.

Of that group, the absence of Everett may be the most problematic for Washington. They’re already down Landon Collins for the rest of the season and now, they’ll be set to rely on either Troy Apke or Jeremy Reaves to fill in for him. Given Apke’s struggles earlier in the year, the team should probably give Reaves the most playing time at the position.

It’s also possible that the hyper-versatile Kendall Fuller could play more at free safety, but the team won’t want to do that for the whole game. They’ll need his services to help lock down some of the talented Bengals receivers including Tyler Boyd, Tee Higgins, and A.J. Green.

As for the tackles, those absences will be difficult as well. Though Christian and Lucas have only been serviceable starters this year, the downgrade from them to David Sharpe, the next man up in the O-Line room, could prove to be significant. Sharpe played well on the right side against the Lions, but the big-bodied 344-pound man isn’t much of an athlete. If the Bengals line up the speedy Carl Lawson across from him, he could have his share of struggles as a pass blocker.

Also, Morgan Moses will likely shift to the left side as a result of these injuries, so Washington’s line will be a bit worse for wear as their right side won’t be as strong as it’s been in recent years. And depth beyond Sharpe will be a concern (it seems likely that David Steinmetz will be promoted from the practice squad and serve as the top swing tackle during this contest).

The other injuries to Anderson and Norris, two depth players, are a bit less concerning. Washington will miss them a bit on special teams but they have enough to get by without them.

The questionable players for Sunday include Dustin Hopkins (groin), Dontrelle Inman (hamstring), Isaiah Wright (illness), and Nick Sundberg (illness). Hopkins played last week despite his injury, so unless he has a setback in the lead-up to Sunday’s game, he will play. If not, Kaare Vedvik will be in action.

As for the others, it’s less certain. In a normal year, illnesses wouldn’t be a huge concern for teams, but with the COVID-19 pandemic going on, they’re being more wary of them and are holding players out to avoid spreading sickness around. Washington doesn’t have a backup long snapper, so Sundberg will have to be watched closely.

Five players to watch for Washington in Week 11. dark. Next

We’ll see who is and isn’t available for Washington come Week 11, but this is surely one of their longer injury reports in recent memory. That makes sense given the natural attrition of the NFL season.
