Positive 5

Danny Johnson continues to be an unsung hero for Washington.  When he was signed as an undrafted free agent from Southern University following the 2018 NFL Draft, fans reacted with a collective, “Who”?  Two years later, Johnson is continuing to defy all odds and make his home with the Burgundy and Gold.

Johnson was particularly good on kickoff returns against Detroit and he also brought back one for 46 yards.  Special teams moments such as that gem will always set up the offense to be in scoring position right away.  Special teams efforts from Johnson have been solid in recent weeks.

Negative 5

Chase Young is a special player who is blessed with elite athleticism and talents.  This is why it is so difficult to place him as a negative this week.  It’s painful.  However, omitting him from this list would be wrong and we must recognize that the best players will make mistakes, especially rookies.

You know the play.  A roughing the passer call that gave Detroit an opportunity to win with a few seconds remaining.  If Young doesn’t commit the foul, Washington heads to overtime with plenty of momentum.  Perhaps the result would’ve been the same, but we’ll never know.  Young admitted his lapse in judgment and that is all anyone can ask of him for now.
