Washington Football Team Reality Checks: Week 10 vs. Detroit Lions
By Tim Payne
No. 1 – The Reality Is, Washington may have found their No. 2 receiver
Cam Sims finally translated his training camp and preseason success of the last few years into a breakout regular-season performance. He and McLaurin were the first tandem of Washington receivers to both exceed 100 yards in a game since Pierre Garcon and Jamison Crowder did so back in 2016.
Sims’ size and hands, combined with his clear comfort level against zone coverages, makes it obvious he should be the starting receiver opposite of Terry McLaurin. It will be interesting to see if he’s able to build on the success of last week with another strong performance against Detroit.
My Prediction: Nobody benefitted more from Alex Smith coming in to replace the injured Kyle Allen. Smith and Sims clearly have a chemistry from their time running the second-team offense together. Expect Sims to continue to have opportunities and success as long as Smith remains the QB.
