Tampa Bay Buccaneers

There’s no team that is in more of a win-now situation than the Bucs. Tom Brady is 43 and while he may want to keep playing for years to come, there’s no guarantee that he will be able to do that.

As such, if the Bucs want to win a title with Brady, they have a two-year window in which to do it since his contract ends in 2021.

The Buccaneers are strong on both sides of the ball, but if they could add anywhere, it would probably be on defense. As it stands, the team has two solid edge rushers in Jason Pierre-Paul and Shaq Barrett, but they don’t have proven depth behind either.

Kerrigan would give the team just that. He could help spell his fellow veteran Pierre-Paul and keep the two fresh as the team’s pass rush looks to get pressure to take pressure off a young secondary. Plus, he would provide another veteran presence on that side of the ball which could help Bruce Arians’ squad.

The Bucs already traded for a defensive lineman in Steve McLendon. They could go after some edge depth if they want to ensure their defense is built to compete come the postseason. Maybe they’d rather stand pat or go after a veteran defensive back, but Kerrigan could at least draw some consideration from Tampa.

Kerrigan may not ultimately leave Washington. He may not even want to. That said, if he really does want to be traded, one of these teams could consider jettisoning a late-round pick to help strengthen their chances of contending even if it’s only a little bit.
