Los Angeles Rams

Another NFC West team? Sure. Why not? The Rams are in the thick of the divisional battle and will certainly be fighting for a Wild Card spot this season. But to have a good chance at making it there, they’ll need to keep up with the other teams in their division.

One of the best ways for the team to do that will be to pressure the quarterback. They already have Aaron Donald and added Leonard Floyd in free agency, but they could use another strong sack artist out there to rotate in with Floyd and Samson Ebukam.

Kerrigan would fit the bill nicely. The Rams run a 3-4 scheme and while Kerrigan is a better fit in the 4-3, he can still certainly play in the 3-4 scheme. Brandon Staley could use him mostly as a pass rusher and surely, he wouldn’t drop Kerrigan into coverage unless it was on a play to trick the defense.

With Kerrigan, Donald, and the other complementary players the Rams have, their pass rush would certainly be better off. And with Donald drawing so much attention, Kerrigan would have an easier time getting sacks like we’ve seen him have with teams focused on his partners, Montez Sweat and Chase Young, this season.

It also helps Kerrigan’s cause that Sean McVay is the coach of the Rams. McVay is familiar with Kerrigan and could be willing to surrender a pick to acquire his services knowing he would help build depth and talent on defense and be a good locker room presence. Plus, he would fill a position of need and could make a difference in a tight Wild Card battle.

Maybe the Rams are happy with what they have, but if they aren’t, Kerrigan could be a cheap, easy upgrade for the team. They’ve pulled off deals with Washington in the past (Derek Carrier) so perhaps they could swing a mutually beneficial one once again.
