Washington Football Team: Free agents team could target in 2021
8. DB Jalen Mills
Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Jalen Mills is not an elite prospect, but he is fairly solid and should receive consideration from the WFT this offseason. Much like former Eagle and current WFT corner Ronald Darby, Mills has dealt with some injuries since entering the league as a seventh-rounder in 2016 from LSU.
Mills can also play free safety in a pinch or he can be assigned there permanently if the need arises. How do you like him now?
Poaching him from the Eagles will not be an issue at all (more on that a little later). When a good player from a division rival is available and can come at a reasonable cost, you take that golden opportunity the moment free agency begins.
Mills is more of a role player and not a starter, but he would be valuable in various passing downs, nickel packages, and prevent sets. Having depth at corner and free safety all in one package makes Mills a solid asset.
He is likely to get far less on the open market than some corners, especially the elites. Mills would be very affordable and could come at a cost of $4 million a year for three years. For a player of his caliber and versatility, this would be a good deal for Washington and Mills alike.
