Reactions 6-11

6. Kendall Fuller – wow. The interception was obviously huge, and the PI call was iffy. Even if it was legit, it was almost exactly what Logan Ryan would do a few minutes later to Isaiah Wright with no flag thrown.

7. I’ve been on the Danny Johnson bandwagon for a couple of years. I remain on it. Johnson is not an elite athlete and he will never be a great player. But he was very good on kick coverage, and notice what he did on kickoff returns. He fielded the ball and went forward. Other than a tricky play with a kick along the sidelines, he routinely advanced the ball past the 25. You can do just fine with that kind of player.

8. I’ll be the first to say it. Great catch by Cam Sims. I didn’t think he’d even be on the team, and I still don’t see him as much of a long-term option, but that was a hell of a catch. Well done. The last time I caught a TD was in eighth grade.

9. And while I’m apologizing, you know who wasn’t so bad at left tackle? Geron Christian Sr. Another player I didn’t see even making the team. You who wasn’t so good at left tackle? Andrew Thomas, the Giants No. 1 pick, fourth overall in the 2020 draft. He wasn’t so good because he got benched. Thomas may still turn out to be good, but he is off to a very rocky start.

In fact, according to PFF, Geron Christian is just a fraction behind the Eagles’ mammoth Jordan Mailata as the top left tackle in the NFC East, ahead of both Thomas and the Cowboys’ Brandon Knight. This may be the equivalent of being the best downhill skier in Bermuda, but Christian is playing better than I thought he could. My bad.

10. I like JD McKissic. Maybe after today, some of you haters out there will as well. Notice, I’m saying “like,” not “love.” That makes me think of Bryce, which brings me to…

11. Rough day for fourth-round draft picks. Saahdiq Charles’ debut lasted two plays. Antonio Gandy-Golden hobbled off early as well. (Last year’s 4th rounders – Bryce Love and Wes Martin – fared even worse. As did the 2018 4th rounder. That would be Apke. 2017 – Samaje Perine.)

Three takeaways from Washington's loss to Giants. dark. Next

Here’s a thought – just spitballing. Maybe trade out of the fourth round next year.
