Washington Football Team: Five positives and negatives vs. Rams
The Washington Football Team suffered a fourth consecutive loss on Sunday and there are plenty of negatives to talk about, but very few positives to examine.
The Washington Football Team put forth their worst effort of the season against the Rams on Sunday and the team seemed to quit or not care after the first quarter – maybe both. Washington falls to 1-4, and while the season is not over (more on that in a moment), it sure feels like it.
The offense had a good first quarter, but struggled thereafter. The defense was absolutely horrific and, has surrendered 30 or more points in four straight games. The special teams unit was lackluster at best on Sunday and the coaching left a lot to be desired.
The negatives are too many to list, but we will narrow it down to five instances. The positives were few and far between, but we’ll do our best to find something good to talk about today. Washington needs to take anything that is positive and process it into long-term building blocks. The players lack overall confidence, and steps are needed to produce a consistent winner.
We all knew that the new regime would be confronted with a team that needed good leadership and the athletes to make this a winning organization. There will come a time when all of these negatives will be limited and the positives will flow. For now, the negatives far outweigh the positives and the coaching staff has admitted that this season is something of an evaluation of the team.
This means that there will obviously be additional games where the team struggles and commits the kind of mistakes that are akin to an organization that is constantly on the losing end of most games.
It’s easy to talk about solutions to the many problems that exist at Football Team Park, but dealing with all of it is another matter. Articles written today that seem overly critical or too negative will slowly change if the organization can stick to the rebuilding plans and benchmarks. We’ll continue to talk about it each day and all of us can watch this journey from perennial losing to continued success. With all of that in mind, let’s take the latest look at the positives and negatives for Week 5.
