1. Make Jared Goff uncomfortable

The Rams offense can perform at a completely different level when Jared Goff is in a rhythm. Washington cannot allow Goff to get into that comfort zone. If he does, he will use his strong supporting cast to slice up the Washington Football Team secondary.

Luckily for Washington, they have a really strong defensive line that can cause Goff some headaches. This will be magnified even more if Chase Young returns this week. He has gradually worked himself back at practice this week and is officially listed as questionable. If the defensive line can be disruptive, that will spell good things for Washington.

Getting pressure on Goff is not the only way to make Goff uncomfortable. Stopping the run will also lead to increased happy feet for Goff. Sean McVay typically uses the run game to set the tone for his offense. If the run game gets going he then uses a heavy dose of run-pass options. This, in turn, gets Goff comfortable into a game.

However, if the run is not successful, that forces McVay to call more pass plays. That makes Goff almost a sitting duck back there for Washington to pounce on.

Washington has to stop the run and get after Goff to make Jared Goff uncomfortable. If they can, they’ll set themselves up to do well on defense.
