Everyone loves to focus on the skill position players and the quarterback. Today, I am focusing on the hog mollies up front.

Entering the season, the Washington Football Team‘s offensive line had a very bleak look. Reports continually came out of training camp on how dominant the defensive line was and it became concerning. Some fans brushed it off as an elite defensive line. However, the offensive line still had some serious concerns.

As many of you know, and I won’t harp on it for too long, the Washington Football Team traded franchise left tackle Trent Williams to the San Francisco 49ers. Immediately following the trade on Day 3 of the 2020 NFL Draft, Washington selected his hopeful replacement, Saahdiq Charles out of LSU. However, due to a nagging calf injury the job belongs to a still raw and underdeveloped Geron Christian.

Not only did the Washington Football Team lose Williams, but they lost left guard Ereck Flowers in free agency to the Miami Dolphins. Flowers surprisingly was really solid as he rebounded from a horrific stint with the New York Giants. Wes Martin, another very raw, young player, has stepped in his place.

The center and the right side of the line remains the exact same. Unfortunately, Brandon Scherff has been sidelined due to an injury. Luckily, it was not season-ending.

Coming into this season, Washington’s offensive line was seen as one of its major weaknesses. Has that proven to still be the case? Well, it has been a mixed bag. The offensive line by no means has been spectacular, but after a poor showing in Week 1, it gradually has improved.

The offensive line, like most of this team, has had mixed results week to week, and player to player. We are only 25 percent of the way through the NFL season. It is with this notion that I present to you the way-too-early season awards for the Washington Football Team offensive line. Awards are subject to change.
