Buy

You can definitely buy what these guys were selling on Sunday, and most of the strong performances from the Washington Football Team came on the offensive side of the ball.

OC Scott Turner. Turner called a really solid offensive game this week, getting Haskins is favorable down and distance, utilizing Isaiah Wright and Antonio Gandy-Golden in creative ways, mixing up the pass and run, and disguising formations and play-calls with various motion concepts. This was a good gameplan and it was well-called by Turner.

WR Terry McLaurin. This kid is like buying Apple in the ’90s. You buy some and then buy some more and then buy a little more, and as it keeps going up, you keep buying because you’re so sure it’s still a bargain. His YAC is almost double the next best player with at least 15 catches. His ability to get open against any kind of coverage is special. Maybe soon he’ll start getting some respect from the officiating crews, too.

More from Commanders News

WR Isaiah Wright. Wright’s most impactful play was breaking up what would have been the first Haskins interception. But he also acquitted himself nicely both on gadget plays and in the passing game as a receiver and a blocker. There’s something to this kid, and he’s definitely going to see more playing time in the coming weeks.

RB Antonio Gibson. He’s not getting enough carries or touches. Partially, that’s because the offense isn’t staying on the field long enough, but at 4.5 yards per carry, he’s earned more touches.

OT Geron Christian. Look, Christian hasn’t been awesome. He hasn’t even been necessarily good all the time. But he’s been much better than I expected.

Christian has only given up three sacks and only been penalized one time through his first 200 snaps this season. And having gone up against Chandler Jones, Myles Garrett, and the Eagles’ stout rotation in those games, he’s made massive progress from where he was last year. Christian has earned more starts. And maybe we’ll know if he’s a long-term solution at the position by the end of the season.
