4. OL Wes Schweitzer

The Washington Football Team suffered a major loss last week when Brandon Scherff left the game against the Cardinals with a knee injury. Scherff didn’t have his best game in Week 2, but he was still one of the stronger blockers on Washington’s line. It looked like he may have suffered a serious injury which would’ve been bad news for the team.

Luckily, Scherff avoided any season-ending injury. Instead, he’ll miss 3-5 weeks with the knee injury and is on the IR in the interim.

That said, with Scherff out, the shaky depth of Washington’s offensive line is being tested. As a result, Wes Schweitzer will be starting at the right guard position and his performance could be clean to Washington blocking well on Sunday.

The Cleveland Browns have a very strong defensive line headlined by Myles Garrett, Sheldon Richardson, and Larry Ogunjobi. Washington will need to do what they can to slow these pass rushers down. Otherwise, it could be a long day for Washington’s running backs and Dwayne Haskins.

Schweitzer had some good moments against the Cardinals, but he also had some keys whiffs and missed assignments in the run game. He’ll need to clean up those issues and perform at a solid clip for Washington to have any chance of moving the ball on offense.

It’s also worth noting that with Morgan Moses nursing a hip injury, the right tackle spot could be one to watch as well. If Moses can’t play, Cornelius Lucas would likely step into the lineup. Without their top two blockers on the right side, the stronger side of the Washington line could quickly turn into an issue, so this bears watching in Week 3.
