Stud 3: Washington’s linebackers

Just 15 months ago, few Washington Football Team fans were familiar with Jon Bostic and Kevin Pierre-Louis. Both were role players on their respective teams and were hoping to earn an opportunity to produce more.

Well, both found that in Washington. And so far, the results have been good for the duo.

Against the Cardinals, Pierre-Louis and Bostic both played well. They did as much as they could to contain Murray, which was no easy task, and did a solid job of slowing Kenyan Drake down on the ground.

Pierre-Louis proved to be a high-level tackler in this contest. He was the game leader with 15 total tackles and 10 solo stops. His best play came when he tackled Chase Edmonds on a third-and-short in the flat to force an Arizona punt. He did well to react to the play, work through traffic, and square up Edmonds to bring him down.

As for Bostic, he had seven tackles on the day, but more impressively, he was able to get a sack in on Kyler Murray. He showed off speed that many didn’t know he had as a pass rusher, as he was able to attack downhill well and get a big shot in on Murray. He continues to produce well and he fits what the team needs as a veteran starter.

Washington seems to have found something that works at linebacker and if Pierre-Louis and Bostic can continue to succeed as role players, the team’s front seven will be in good hands.
